The maps below show the rates of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI), Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Hand Hygiene Compliance (HCC) for each of BC’s 80 acute care facilities, as well as the aggregated rates by health authority (in the top left legend). Hover over the marker or health authority to view the rates, or use the drop-down to navigate to a location. For more detailed information on CDI, MRSA, and HCC surveillance, you can download PICNet’s provincial surveillance reports.
- CI= confidence interval. NA= some of the smaller hospitals do not have enough HCC data to be shown individually; their numbers are included in the health authority totals.
- The data on the map represent the average rate for the last four fiscal quarters (Q4 of 2015/2016 to Q3 of 2016/2017) to minimize fluctuations in the quarterly rates. Averages are calculated by taking the total number of cases for all four quarters, divided by the total number of inpatient days during the same time period.
- Direct comparison of the rates is not recommended between health authorities or hospitals because of differences in the patient population served and services provided, as well as variations in methodologies. Please note, the CDI, MRSA and HCC rates are not interdependent.
