The Central Venous Catheter (CVC) Care & Maintenance Module uses animations, interactive activities and video demonstrations to teach the fundamental theory and practice involved with working with CVCs.

Upon completion of the CVC Care & Maintenance Course, the learner will:

  • be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of different types of CVCs
  • be familiar with the signs and symptoms of CVC complications and be able to apply management and prevention precautions as part of daily practice
  • be able to confidently perform nursing responsibilities including assessment of CVCs, flushing, tube changing, and taking blood samples

Who should take this course?

It is recommended for nursing staff and appropriate for all health care professionals who work with CVCs.  The education module takes between 25-45 minutes, including the test at the end.
